Human rights lawyer Aasya Ismail has been bestowed with an award for outstanding achievement by the University of Westminster, UK.
The award recognises exceptional alumni who have made significant contributions to their fields.
Advocate Ismail, a graduate of International Relations and Democratic Politics from the university, has been working to defend women and girls, religious minorities, and journalists in Pakistan.
The Westminster Alumni Awards, a highly competitive process, saw over 270 nominations this year.
Punjab University Law Department Dean Amanullah Malik congratulated Ismail on the award, saying her selection was a testament to her extraordinary work.
He said her win highlights the critical human rights issues plaguing Pakistan and underscores the importance of individuals dedicated to upholding justice.
Advocate Saleem Shah Hoti also congratulated Ismail, stating that her award is not just a personal triumph but a recognition of the challenges faced by human rights defenders in Pakistan.
He hoped her achievement would inspire others to join the fight for a more just and equitable society.
