United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has held a meeting with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir at the Qasr Al Shati Palace, Abu Dhabi.
According to an official statement issued by the UAE Embassy in Pakistan, matters related to bilateral cooperation and joint work between the two countries came under discussion during the meeting.
"H.H Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE receives at Qasr Al Shati Palace Abu Dhabi General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and discusses ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and joint work between the two countries," the embassy said in the statement.

The UAE Embassy in Pakistan also released a picture of the meeting between both leaders in which they can be seen talking to each other.

The UAE president said that the brotherly relations between the two countries went back many decades and his father, who had immense love for Pakistan and its people, laid the foundation of their bilateral ties.
The president also assured the prime minister that the UAE would always stand by Pakistan.
Pakistan-UAE bilateral ties date back to the UAE's formation in 1971 and have since evolved into wide-ranging cooperation in various fields. Pakistan was the first country to extend recognition of the United Arab Emirates, while the UAE continues to be a major donor of economic and financial assistance to Pakistan. UAE recognizes Pakistan's contribution to the evolution of key institutions in the Emirates while Pakistan recognizes UAE's investment in Pakistan's economy and infrastructure. Both countries' populations share the same faith and are majorly Muslim.
In recognition of the UAE's humanitarian support to Pakistan, multiple institutions, bridges, airports and hospitals in Pakistan are named after the UAE's founding father and first president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, such as the Sheikh Zayed Bridge in Swat Valley and Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex in Lahore.
