In July last year, a clip of four men holding a couple at gunpoint and assaulting them while forcing them to strip went viral on social media. In a latest development in the case, both victims withdrew their statements and did not identify the accused.
Following a meeting held at the Ministry for Law and Justice, Maleeka Bokhari issued a statement, saying that there is solid evidence against Mirza which would be presented before the court at the next hearing.
"We will make all-out efforts to take the culprits in the case to task, and have undeniable and solid evidence that will be presented before the court at the next hearing," the statement said, as per Dawn.
She further said that it was the government and police's responsibility to take the case to its logical conclusion. It added that the video of prime accused Usman Mirza had been authenticated and the evidence in this regard would be shared with the court during the next hearing of the case.
