Geo News quoted the police as saying that the incident took place in the Sharifabad area of the federal capital. Police registered an FIR against a suspect, with ICT Director-General of Police (Operations) Suhail Zafar Chattha instructing the authorities concerned to bring the accused to book at the earliest.
This is the second case of sexual abuse in Islamabad in just two months. Last month, a Swedish woman working at a United Nations agency in Islamabad was raped by her Pakistani security guard, and the accused had fled the scene after the crime.
The woman was affiliated with the United Nations, and had been stationed in Islamabad since January 7 this year. The guard who raped her was later identified as Muhammad Safeer. He had been hired for the protection of her house.
The woman had held the security company that provided the guard, as well as the guard himself, responsible for the incident.
An FIR was subsequently registered at the Aabpara police station in Islamabad. According to the FIR, the woman reported that the guard broke into her bedroom at night and forced himself on her.
