Four Cases Of 'Honour' Killings Reported In A Day In Sindh

At least three women and a man were killed in the name of 'honour' in Sindh on Friday. One of the slain women, 20-year-old woman, was killed by her husband in Badin district.

Mir Ali Shah attacked his wife Farzana Shah, aged 20, and gunned her down with a pistol because he suspected she had betrayed him. The murder occurred in village Malook Shah near Sirani town in Badin district, Sindh.

The body of the murdered woman was brought Civil Hospital Badin from where it was handed over to her relatives after the autopsy. The alleged killer surrendered himself to Badin police and confessed to having killed his young wife. A first information report (FIR) of the incident has been registered against the accused on the complaint of Chago Shah, the father of the woman under 302 of Pakistan Penal Code (murder).

Another domestic murder occurred in village Dari Sundhrani near Ghouspur in Kashmore-Kandhko district. Sadam Bhayo killed his wife and her alleged paramour Insaf Bhayo. An FIR was registered against him.

In Ghotki district, another man, Chanisar Solangi shot dead wife Subhana Khatoon.  He told police that he could not control his wife after seeing his wife in an 'objectionable condition' with another man.

A report by the women's rights organization Sindh Suhai Sath (SSS) found that as many a 176 people, including men and women, had been killed in the name of 'honour' across Sindh in 2021. Last week, a man and his wife, who had married of their own free will in a local court about two years ago, were shot dead in Sanghar district, Sindh because the wife's family disapproved of their marriage.
