TEDxLahore, in partnership with Shams Power Limited and Women in Energy, recently hosted a training session titled "Preparing Females for Clean Energy Jobs."
The program aimed to equip young female engineers with the skills needed to excel in the clean energy industry, particularly the solar sector.
During the training, participants received hands-on experience in designing solar solutions, mechanical installation, maintenance, and electrical configuration of the system. The program aimed to provide female engineers with technical skills to increase their participation and success in the field.
In addition to technical skills, participants also received training in essential soft skills, such as CV writing, communication skills, preparing for interviews, and negotiation skills. They were also trained in and made aware of workplace harassment and employee rights in Pakistan.
The training concluded with a speaker session featuring Sonya Rehman (Communications Expert), Saliha Akram (Environment, Health and Safety Professional), and Isra Shabbir (Director, Girls Make Games). The speakers shared their experiences working in Pakistan, discussed the challenges they faced, and provided tips for navigating them. Attendees were left inspired by their stories.
The event was well-received and demonstrated the commitment of TEDxLahore and its partners to support and encourage more women to enter the clean energy industry.
