Polio cases

Madam,

Polio is an acute viral disease marked by inflammation of nerve cells. This can often result in permanent paralysis. These days the disease is spreading rapidly and many people are suffering. A two-year-old boy was affected by the polio virus recently, and this makes him the 12th victim of the virus from Sindh this year. This dangerous disease is destroying lives of many people. I am requesting all parents to cooperate with polio teams and get their children under five years of age vaccinated against the crippling disease. Repeated vaccination is the only way to get rid of the polio virus.

Innovation

Madam,

Every year, the world sees great leaps forward in technology. New inventions are made by people around the world almost every other day. Unfortunately, it seems that we are not catching up to this progress. There can be lots of reasons behind this and one of them is our constant need to criticise each other. If someone has a haircut, we do not feel shy about mentioning our views on the topic, even though we know it is not important or needed. An educated person gets demotivated when facing too much criticism and this makes them compelled to commit suicide. If an educated person is not respected, then this is the sign of the state of our society. Everyone wants a comfortable life and a developed state. For this, we need to motivate our youth by our sweet words, not by criticising them.

Rahmatullah Shafiq,

Turbat.

 Student unions

Madam,

Students should have the right to take decisions regarding the education system. If they behave badly, then action can be taken against them under the law. General Ziaul Haq banned student unions to give authority to teachers, but in this era some teachers misuse their power and are involved in violent crimes themselves. Students need to take steps to protect their rights. If General Zia banned student unions, it is a thing of the past and the current government has a chance to revitalise campus politics once again.

I request the current government to accept the appeal of students and restore student unions in colleges and universities.
