According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army troops observed the presence of terrorists and engaged them in Datta Khel area. Following an intense exchange of fire, the security personnel killed four terrorists.
The military said that the terrorists killed during the operation were actively involved in activities against security forces.
Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, the military’s media wing further said.
The North Waziristan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remains riddled with clashes between security personnel and terrorists.
Earlier, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Datta Khel area and killed six terrorists in the process, besides recovering weapons and ammunition.
However, during an intense exchange of fire, Lance Naik Islam-ud-Din, 34, embraced martyrdom after fighting gallantly.
Last week, a soldier had embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, the ISPR had said.
"Sepoy Waheed Khan, 23, resident of Nowshera, having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat [martyrdom]," a brief statement issued by the military's media wing had further said.
