Bhatti is currently in the custody of ACE Lahore team on a day's remand following the major operation the other day.
“These 10 million rupees were hidden in various drawers and cupboards of his house,” a member of the raiding team confirmed to TFT.
Sources said that some of this amount is from the commission received for awarding contracts to blue-eyed contractors.
“It also includes a chunk of the money received against transfer and postings of officers," they added.
According to them, Muhammad Khan Bhatti is accused of receiving bribes for appointments, transfers, and postings and receiving kickbacks and commission for awarding contracts.
Last week, it was reported that the former principal secretary had authenticated the corruption charges against himself and confessed that all contracts for the construction and renovation of Punjab Assembly were given to his front men or PML-Q loyalists at the behest of Parvez Elahi's and his son Moonis Elahi.
Bhatti, under Section 164, confessed committing massive corruption and wrong doings during the course of his service, and especially as principal secretary to CM.
He was arrested from Quetta on the Pak-Iran border, while trying to flee to Iran and was brought to Rahim Yar Khan, where he was remanded in the ACE custody.
It emerged last month that several appointments were made in some 31 government departments on political basis during the term of the former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi.
It was revealed as the chief secretary of the province sought details of political appointments in different government departments.
According to the report, the appointed persons enjoyed the perks given to the officers, while they were also given vehicles on the verbal directives from the Chief Minister’s House.
