Seven people including a policeman have been wounded in a blast in Quetta. The explosion took place in the Nawa Killi area today. Rescue services and security forces secured the area after the explosion, transferring the wounded to Civil Hospital Quetta.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Asad Nasir, the blast targeted a police mobile vehicle, using three to four kilograms of explosives mounted on a motorcycle, detonated remotely.

Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo issued a statement saying:
"Subversive elements want to destroy the province's peace. The protection of citizen's lives and properties is our foremost priority.”

This attack in Quetta comes on the same day as another in Bajaur, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, where an improvised explosive device (IED) claimed the lives of two policemen.

A spokesperson for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) refused to take responsibility for the violence, claiming that the banned outfit intended to stick to its ceasefire with state forces.
