In a loaded query, the PTI chairman tweeted on Monday if the popularity of the PTI had compelled Shehbaz to prevent media coverage of party activities, attack journalists, victimise the press by lodging false cases, disrupt television coverage, render YouTube inaccessible and impede broadcasts of his flood relief telethon.
Quoting the tweet on Tuesday, Shehbaz said he had "no time" to rubbish Imran's allegations and clear his misconceptions. "Our government remains busy with rehabilitating those affected by the floods. I, he said, have no time to rubbish your allegations and clear your misconceptions." The prime minister also expressed hope that Imran will present details of every penny collected in the name of those affected by the recent and 2010 floods alongside prohibited funds obtained from foreign individuals and businesses.
Earlier in August, a three-member bench of the Election Commission of Pakistan led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja had unanimously found that the PTI received prohibited funds from 34 foreign nationals and 351 companies.
The commission also declared that 13 "unknown" accounts have been found linked to the party and the submissions by the PTI chief were "inaccurate and wrong". The party was issued a show-cause notice after the unanimous verdict which was earlier reserved in June this year.
