DG ISPR Denies 'Foreign Conspiracy' Behind Imran's Ouster, Says US Never Asked For Bases

Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar has said that the National Security Committee did not discuss a 'foreign conspiracy' aimed at regime change in Pakistan, as earlier claimed by former prime minister Imran Khan.  Addressing a press conference, the military spokesperson said that the minutes of the national security committee meeting did not contain the word 'conspiracy'. He added that Pakistan's institutions are fully capable of thwarting international conspiracies.

In response to a question, the DG ISPR also said that the United States never asked for bases in Pakistan. However, if such a request had been made, it would have been rejected, he added.

When asked about the anti-army campaign on social media run by supporters of the PTI, the military spokesperson said false news about the institutions was being spread. "Our army has been a target of a massive misinformation," he said.

He added that the Pakistan Army has nothing to do with politics. In response to a question, he said that martial law will never be imposed in Pakistan.

While answering a question, he said the army follows what the army chief says. "There is no division among the army. The entire army is proud of its leadership," he said.
