The meeting was held to discuss the party's legal strategy as well as activate its lawyers' wing in the wake of arrests of activists affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PT) for their social media posts.
The report quoted attendees of the meeting as confirming that the former PM accepted his mistake in filing a presidential reference against Justice Isa, adding that the them government was misled by the officials concerned, about the facts of the case.
Further, the report claims that Imran Khan did not want to pursue the reference against the SC judge, mainly because ex-attorney general of Pakistan Khalid Jawed Khan had told him that the judge was honest and that he [Khan] was misguided about the case.
A lawyer affiliated with the PTI was also quoted as saying in the report that Imran Khan believed that a section of the superior judiciary was displeased with him due to the reference filed against Justice Isa.
