Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan on Wednesday announced to unveil a date for the dissolution of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab assemblies on December 17 2022.

“I have completed consultation with the party and I will give my nation the date for the dissolution of the KP and Punjab assemblies, at a gathering at Lahore’s Liberty Chowk,” he said in a live address.

The ex-premier went on to add that the planned dissolution of assemblies would pave the way for polls.

“As per the law, elections should be held within 90 days of assemblies' dissolution. So, when the date is issued, 70 percent of Pakistan will go into election mode."

Pointing at a perception, he said, “I want to clarify today that I’m not asking for help from anyone; I want the establishment to be neutral for its honour to increase."

He opined that the distance between the establishment and the public had grown during the past few years.

"A strong military is in the country's interest and this would only happen when it is neutral and does not interfere [in politics].”

Imran warned that Pakistan's economy was on the path to destruction as there was no justice in the country.

He made it clear that criticising some “black sheep” in the institution was not a criticism aimed at the army.

“If there're black sheep in [a] institution, they should raise their stature by taking action against them.”

Last month, the PTI chief announced to disassociate the party from the “corrupt political system” by dissolving the provincial assemblies.
