Shahram Azhar is thrilled to announce the release of his much-awaited music album Banbaas: Exile in Wilderness, after a decade of dedication and hard work. The album consists of new ghazals with English translations, focusing on themes of the inner world and the concept of the “subject.” These ghazals delve into the depths of personal reflection and emotional expression, blending traditional poetic form with modern sensibilities.
The first ghazal from the album will premiere on December 14th, coinciding with the birthday of Jaun Elia, the legendary poet and philosopher. Shahram Azhar views the album as a tribute to Elia, whose influence has been pivotal in shaping the album’s themes and direction. Azhar believes that without Elia’s work, Banbaas would have been incomplete, and he acknowledges Elia’s lasting impact on contemporary poetry.
In Shahram Azhar’s own words, “Jaun Elia’s poetry remains something for future generations to explore,” underlining the enduring relevance of Elia’s legacy. The album offers a unique blend of traditional ghazals, infused with Azhar’s personal reflections on the subject, and invites listeners to engage with poetry in a new, meaningful way. Banbaas promises to be a poetic and musical journey, one that honors the past while looking toward the future.
