West Indies Great Brian Lara has regarded former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram as the most 'threatening' fast bowler of his time in the sport.
"Wasim Akram was the best fast bowler; the most threatening fast bowler that I've ever face," Lara said during a recent interview with Fox Cricket.
"He had that deceptive pace and was able to swing the ball," he said adding "he was just an exceptional talent."
The former batsman was asked to comment about the exceptional talent in bowling and batting during his time.
Speaking about spinning wizard Shane Warne, he said, “Nearly on every occasion, he was bowling 10 out of 20 wickets.”
“Warne was the sort of bowler who was versatile in any condition that he was playing in,” Lara added.
He went on to say that the Australian was the “number one spinner I had ever played against and he was mentally stronger than everybody else.”
On Sri Lanka's Muralitharan, Lara said, “he did give me quite a bit of problems. I scored a lot of runs against him but he was a really tricky spinner.”
He also spoke about how Glenn McGrath was an incredible "one line, one length bowler, which could frustrate a batsman."
On the batting side, Lara said Sachin Tendulkar knew the techniques to handle any bowling, adding that Indian fans, too, recognise this ability of his.
On Ricky Ponting, he highlighted the former batsman's confidence to bat in all conditions, saying it was a joy to watch him play.
