Sharing a picture of Haris on his Instagram and Twitter on July 13, Hosseini said that he has known about her journey since last year, and has watched her navigate some very trying times. "Transitioning is such a complicated undertaking—emotionally, physically, socially, psychologically—but Haris has met each challenge with grace, patience, and wisdom," he wrote.
Hosseini said that now he has not one but two daughters, adding that he is inspired by Haris' courage and fearlessness in being true to herself, and not being afraid to show the world her authentic self either.
"I know this process was painful for her, fraught with grief and anxiety," Hosseini said, adding, "She is sober to the cruelty trans people are subjected to daily. But she is strong and undaunted."

Along with the social media post, the author of best-selling books such as 'The Kite Runner' and 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' shared a recent photo of Haris, as well as a childhood photo of him holding her as a baby.
He further said in his Instagram caption, "I love my daughter. I will be by her side every step of the way, as will our family. We stand behind her," adding that it was a privilege to watch her enter the world 'as the beautiful, wise, and brilliant woman' that she is.
