Addressing a press conference along with federal cabinet members Marriyum Aurangzeb, Musaddiq Malik and Qamar-ul-Zaman Qaira in Islamabad today, the interior minister said Bahria Town had illegally transferred Rs50 billion to a Pakistani national in the UK and the crime was informed by the UK’s National Crime Agency to the then PTI government.
Sanaullah claimed that Imran’s aide Shehzad Akbar had "settled" the entire case, while the Rs50 billion – which belonged to the national treasury – was adjusted against Bahria Town's liability.
He said Imran had received a graft of Rs5 billion as "his share" through Akbar before the case was wrapped.
He further said that Bahria Town, after its Rs50 billion was protected by the then PTI government, had allotted a 458-kanal land with an on-paper value of Rs530 million to a trust owned by Imran and his wife.
He added that another 240 kanals were transferred to "Farah Shehzadi" – commonly known as Farah – a close friend of Bushra Bibi.
He said that the federal cabinet has formed a sub-committee to probe the scandal and present facts before its meeting.
The nation's wealth was looted and Bushra Bibi signed the documents without any fear, the interior minister said and questioned "Why did Bahria Town transfer 458-kanal land to the Trust and 200-kanal land in Bani Gala to Farah Shehzadi".
It merits mentioning here that the British immigration authorities had canceled Malik Riaz's visa due to corruption charges and in December 2019, UK’s National Crime Agency had agreed to a settlement worth £190 million with the family of property tycoon Malik Riaz.
The NCA had said it accepted an offer of a staggering £190mn from the family of Riaz after a months-long investigation into property and accounts connected to them.
