Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has asked the government to facilitate ailing former president Pervez Musharraf if the latter wants to return to Pakistan, adding that he has ‘no personal enmity’ with the ex-military dictator.

In a tweet today, Nawaz said: “I have no personal enmity or animosity towards Pervez Musharraf. I don't want anyone else to suffer the traumas I had to endure for my loved ones. I pray to Allah Almighty for his [Musharraf’s] health. If he want to come back [to Pakistan], the government should provide facilities.”

Earlier, PML-N leader Khawaja Asif had said that in view of Musharraf’s ill health, there should be no obstacle for him to return home. He had added that past events should not be allowed to be hindered in this regard.

Last week, Musharraf’s family had said that the former president has been hospitalised for the last three weeks due to a complication of his ailment (amyloidosis). “Going through a difficult stage where recovery is not possible and organs are malfunctioning. Pray for ease in his daily living,” the statement had added.

The statement had come amid rumours of his death doing the rounds on social media.

In 2014, Musharraf was indicted for suspending the Constitution on November 3, 2007. He was awarded the death sentence in absentia in a high treason case by a special court in December 2019. However, a court had later nullified the ruling.
