The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received the schedule for the Cricket World Cup 2023, and it would approach the International Cricket Council (ICC) in this regard.

According to reports, the board has received the inconclusive schedule of the event, and has sought time from the international authority to submit its response.

Some reports in the media suggest that the PCB has concerns, on the travel overall, and is apprehensive in particular about the match that is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad.

The board would now seek the government's advice on the schedule released, and prepare its response.

Pakistan earlier put forth a hybrid model to participate in the event, a proposal mutually acceptable for other regional stakeholders.

As per the model, Pakistan remain as the hosts of the Asia Cup and play some four or five matches, with the tournament then moving to another venue, likely Sri Lanka.

There, India will play the group matches, which would be the second-round and knockout-stage of the event.

The said model earlier met a strong opposition from India, but an official announcement from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in this regard is expected soon. The event is scheduled for September.

The PCB had warned that if the hybrid model was rejected, it would respond equally come the World Cup.

The board was also of the opinion that the government would approve the team's travel to India for the ODIs if the model was approved.

The cricketing audience in Pakistan and India has had a mixed reaction to the situation. By and large, the cricketing world is simply interested in seeing both the sides play and entertain and delight the fans.

It is yet to be seen if the international authorities will nod to the PCB's approval of a hybrid model, which holds the key to the resolution of the issue.
