Bollywood star Tabu has joined the cast of "Dune: Prophecy," a prequel series to filmmaker Denis Villeneuve's megahit film franchise.
According to media reports, Tabu will play Sister Francesca, a "strong, intelligent, and alluring" character who will appear on multiple occasions.
"Sister Francesca leaves an indelible effect in her wake. Her return to the palace upsets the balance of power in the capital, as the makers stated.
Charlotte Rampling starred as Reverend Mother Mohiam, the Emperor's Bene Gesserit Truthsayer, in Villeneuve's 2021 and 2024 film adaptations of Frank Herbert's "Dune" novels.
Lady Jessica was the Bene Gesserit mother of the main character, Paul Atreides, played by Timothee Chalamet.
Based on the novel "Sisterhood of Dune" by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, "Dune: Prophecy," an HBO Max series from Legendary Television, takes place 10,000 years before the events of Frank Herbert's "Dune." Its prior title was "Dune: The Sisterhood."
Prior to this, Tabu acted in international productions including "The Namesake," "Life of Pi," and the BBC drama "A Suitable Boy."
