Ambassador Sajjad Hyder was uniquely suited to this stellar and seniormost post to which he was appointed while only in his late forties. His term-mates from the Indian Military Academy Dehradun and contemporaries from pre-partition Foreign Service training (they were interviewed by PM Nehru) occupied major positions in India.
In addition to their classfellows and colleagues he and his accomplished wife Ruhafza had made lasting friends, including many in the influential press corps, during their previous Delhi postings in the 1940s and 1950s.
