A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Attaullah Tarar and 60 other people for allegedly breaking into the house of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Syed Mir Wasiq for the Khanewal by-election.

The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Syed Mir Wasiq.

According to the complainant, a mob of armed men led by the PML-N leader entered the house and “threatened, intimidated and harassed women and other family members present".

Police have registered a case under sections 506, 453/b, 354,148, and 149.

Meanwhile, PPP leader Ali Haider Gilani, while tweeting about the incident, said, “We have urged the PPP workers to remain calm and peaceful even in the face of this naked aggression. The reckless and criminal attack was designed to create bloodshed, however, our politics is of peace and non-violence”.

He added, “The PML-N candidate can and should be disqualified for this. We have filed an application before the returning officer”.

On the other hand, according to a Tweet by PML-N leader Tallal Chaudhary, the PPP is involved in buying votes in Khanewal. He said that the FIR was filed after the PML-N pointed out that this illegal practice was taking place in the PPP’s election office.
