A delegation of minority rights activists visited Jaranwala on Sunday, where 26 churches and numerous Christian homes were ransacked and torched by a large mob on August 16, 2023, fueled by alleged accusations of desecration of the Holy Quran.

The delegation, led by Voice for Justice Chairman Jospeh Jansen, visited residents of Jaranwala who faced the nightmare last year.

Although peace has been restored in the locality, a few residents have said that they are facing apartheid and that their children feel isolated in schools after the incident.

During the visit, the delegation also talked to local minority leaders and assured them of support and assistance in the rehabilitation and development of victims.

While talking to journalists, Joseph said, “Our local partner, Minority Alliance Pakistan, is actively leading around 10 cases in the courts, demonstrating resilience and commitment to seeking justice for the affected community.”

He said there is a need to promote inter-faith harmony and brotherhood in society to curb such incidents of violence and brutality.

He stated that all stakeholders must collaborate extensively to restore harmony between the communities in Jaranwala.
