Earlier in April, Dua, 15, had mysteriously disappeared from her house in Karachi but later declared that she had run away from her home to marry 21-year-old Zaheer Ahmed.
Dua’s father, Mehdi Kazmi, has filed multiple cases in courts to acquire her custody, claiming that his daughter was kidnapped by Zaheer as she was a “minor” and could not have gotten married due to her age.
In a series of tweets today, Jibran Nasir said: "[The] I.O. [investigation officer] is continuing to suppress key facts of Dua Zehra case which should have been investigated on day one. We have moved multiple applications with [the] police asserting the child did not go to Lahore alone but was taken by [the] accused. [The] police itself is denting an already fragile public trust."
"All our concerns regarding investigation have been regularly and formally communicated to AIG Investigations Sindh along with multiple requests to change [the] I.O. Also personally met IGP Sindh with concerns/requests. But police [‘s] refusal to budge is only inviting doubts about leadership," he added.
