The matter of Tyrian Jade White, the alleged daughter of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has landed in Supreme Court as a citizen challenged a decision of the Islamabad High Court's (IHC) on the matter.
The IHC had dismissed the petition, which sought Imran Khan's disqualification for concealing his daughter.
In his appeal filed in the Supreme Court, petitioner Muhammad Sajid named Iman Khan, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), and the federal government as respondents.
Sajid urged the top court to declare the high court's decision null and void and declare the former prime minister ineligible for holding any public post.
The IHC had on May 21, 2024, had dismissed a petition, seeking the disqualification of Imran for concealing his alleged daughter, Tyrian White on the grounds that a three-member bench had already dismissed the same petition on May 10, 2023 by two judges to one.
A three-member bench of the IHC, comprising Justices Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Arbab Mohammad Tahir and Saman Rafat Imtiaz, had taken up the petition after a gap of almost a year.
When the case was heard by three judges, the opinions of two of the judges were uploaded to the court's website before the fixed date for announcing the verdict.
Further, the petitioners argued that the high court's judgements on the matter were error-prone and should be set aside.
