An accountability court on Thursday granted bail to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif's sons, Hasan and Hussain Nawaz, against a Rs50,000 surety bond in each of the three cases related to Al-Azizia Steel Mill, Avenfield residences, and Flagship.
The court also canceled the brother's arrest warrants and fugitive status in the aforementioned references.
Hasan and Hussain had to appear before the accountability court today to have their perpetual arrest orders suspended, as the judge granted them reprieve until March 14.
The accountability court notified the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of the petitions submitted by Nawaz's sons for acquittal.
Hussain stated in a private conversation with the media at the Islamabad Judicial Complex that he was a Pakistani citizen and would never refuse to recognize it. Whatever happened to them was obvious to everyone, he said, adding that the political retribution against them began on October 12, 1999, when they were expelled "without any case."
Hussain dissociated himself and his brother from any government, stating, "Hasan and I have no association with any government." Personal character assassination should be prohibited, and everyone should be entitled to a fair trial, he added.
