Leading people from different fields of life came together to honour the nurses and mothers at a function held at YMCA Hall the other day.
The chief guest on the occasion was Director General Nursing Tahira Sagir, while Bishop of Lahore Rt Rev Nadeem Kamran presided over the event and distributed a shield of honor among the nurses and Mother’s Day gifts. Important guests on the occasion included Principal Shaikh Zayed Nursing School, Buhsra Nawaz, Naila Maqbool (Sir Ganga Ram), Madam Rubina (Mayo College of Nursing), and Ghulam Nabi.
The function held in connection with the International Day of Nurses and Mother’s Day began with prayers for the nation, social harmony, and prosperity. President YMCA, Mr. Asghar Suleman, welcomed the guests and spoke about YMCA work.
Mr. Emanuel Sarfraz, General Secretary of YMCA, briefed about new initiatives taken for youth’s physical and mental development. “We are holding this event to honor the mothers in our institution who are our students. YMCA caters to lower-middle-class students. Our youth-led solutions include training them to set up their own businesses or get jobs readily. Our shorthand, beauty, styling, and English courses help them excel in life. Only good and positive mothers can be the catalysts of change in society,” he said.
Director of YMCA John William spoke about the problems that nurses have to face, especially young girls who want to join the profession.
