The locals are afraid that their houses can collapse any moment now. The residents of Doria Mohalla, Colgari ward, Shahi Bazar, Guzarwan ward, Baloch ward and Nagori ward are under a serious threat due to the noise of heavy machineries used in the project.
A labourer, Ghulam Qadir, build his house a few years back but now there are cracks in the walls and the floor too has become hollowed. He further mentions that when he starts working at night, he asks his family to sleep outside. Pointing to the cracks in the walls and on the floor, he said that the walls can collapse anytime.
Another resident, Sakina’s house too has been seriously damaged due to the same reason. Her house consists of two room, having rifts in the ceiling and on the walls. She disappointedly mentioned that “it is very hard to build a house these days” and her house can cave-in any day. She further said, “We hear blasts and feels like an earthquake when the Chinese work around. The floors sway and pieces from the ceiling hit our heads like bombshells.”
Both the residents lamented that their houses have been surveyed by the government official but they are still awaiting the governmental aid.
Meanwhile, Balochistan General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and the leader, ‘Gwadar Ko Haq Do Tehreek’ (Give Rights To Gwadar), Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman had visited the houses of aggrieved residents and also provided a list of affected people to the district administration for compensation.
