Former federal information minister and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) member Fawad Chaudhry has been arrested by the National Accountability Bureau for alleged corrupt activities.

The anti-graft watchdog arrested Chaudhry after the bureau's chief approved a warrant for his arrest, Geo News reported.

The warrant states that Chaudhry was wanted in a case of corruption and corrupt practices. NAB subsequently arrested him from the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, where he was detained on judicial remand.

NAB is expected to present Chaudhry before a court and file a request for his custody to make further inquiries in the case.

Chaudhry had been arrested last month from Islamabad. Last week, a Rawalpindi court had sent him on judicial remand in Adiala jail.

Chaudhry was a key member of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan's cabinet when they were in power. Chaudhry, however, announced that he was leaving PTI in a press conference earlier this year after the incidents of May 9 transpired.
