A large contingent of Lahore police have surrounded Zaman Park, the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former premier Imran Khan, most probably to take him into custody as an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the federal capital on Wednesday canceled bail of Khan in a case related to staging protest demonstration outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office.

As per sources, orders have been issued to keep anti-riot force present in Police Lines on alert to respond to any untoward incident. Police have also placed barriers on major roads of the city including Mall Road, Jail Road, and Garhi Shahu. Moreover, police vehicles are also patrolling the areas adjacent to Zaman Park.

On the other hand, a large number of PTI workers have gathered outside Imran Khan’s residence in Zaman Park to resist the expected arrest of their party chief.

PTI workers, including male and female, present outside Zaman Park are raising slogans in favor of Imran Khan and against the police. A gathering of a large number of party workers outside the residence of Khan indicates that a violent clash could erupt between police and party workers, sources said.

On February 15, an Islamabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) canceled the bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan in a case registered against him for staging a protest demonstration outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

During today’s hearing, the ATC rejected Imran Khan’s plea seeking an exemption from personal appearance and directed him to appear before the court till 1:30pm.

Upon his failure to appear before the ATC, the court canceled his bail in the ECP protest case.

On the other hand, the Islamabad banking court had also summoned Imran Khan to appear in person in the prohibited funding case by 3:30pm.

The judge ordered Imran Khan to appear in court by today. “If Imran Khan does not appear then the law will take its course,” the court warned.
