Minority Rights Activists Call For Effective Participation Of Minorities In Polls

Minority rights activists on Tuesday called for the effective participation of minorities in general elections scheduled to be held on February 8.

During the seminar organized by Minority Alliance Pakistan and Voice for Justice, the participants said that political parties often ignore the concerns of minorities and other marginalized segments of society, resulting in the failure to adopt progressive legislation. Minority perspectives must be considered by legislative bodies in order for them to successfully handle human rights issues, they said.

While addressing the participants of the event, Voice for Justice Chairman Joseph Jansen stated that consistent efforts are essential to modify political parties' priorities in order to address community deprivation and marginalization while also promoting a culture of tolerance and acceptance.

The Minority Alliance Pakistan also honored Jansen with the “Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti Award 2023” for his services in the development and welfare of the Christian community.
