Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial earns Rs1,575,000 a month as his remuneration, revealed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), on Tuesday.
It came forth as the committee held its meeting, with MNA Noor Alam Khan in the chair, in Islamabad.
The participants of the meeting reviewed the matter of audit of the Supreme Court's budget, and were apprised about the salaries, perks, and privileges of the judges and other officials.
It was revealed that a judge of the apex court earns a monthly salary of Rs1,470,711, while the President of Pakistan gets Rs896,550 a month. The attendees were further informed that the Prime Minister earns Rs201,574 per month.
Earlier this month, Khan informed the National Assembly that PAC will summon the Principal Accounting Officer of Supreme Court over the court’s lack of audit between 2011- 2022.

Alam – the committee’s chair – told the House on Tuesday that former chief justice Saqib Nisar will also be called in to Parliament so that his response pertaining to the dam fund could be sought.
The lawmaker apprised the NA that the registrar had failed to appear before the accountability body of the Parliament despite being intimated to, in this regard.
“The Constitution gives us the right to hold institutions accountable and we are entitled to summon the principal accounting officer of any institution,” he noted.
In an apparent reference to courts, he said, “We appear before you. If you are clean, you should also allow us to put you under scrutiny.”
At least, Khan maintained, submit records so that people may know who has been exploiting the country.

According to the report, a Grade 22 officer earns Rs591,475, while federal ministers get Rs338,125 every month. Likewise, members of the National Assembly are paid Rs188,000 per month.
