Because they were Muslims, their landlord stabbed an innocent Palestinian-American kid and his mother on Saturday morning in the state of Illinois, resulting in their deaths.

After reportedly killing a six-year-old kid and his mother, 32, in Plainfield, Illinois, because they were Muslims, 71-year-old Joseph Czuba has been charged with murder and hate crimes.

The present confrontation between Hamas and Israel was the reason the woman and her kid were targeted, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office.

The woman and her kid were attacked, and President Biden stated he was "sickened" by it.

"This horrific act of hate has no place in America and stands against our fundamental values: freedom from fear for how we pray, what we believe, and who we are," Biden stated in a press release.

"As Americans, we must come together and reject Islamophobia and all forms of bigotry and hatred."

Charges against Czuba include hate crimes, aggravated violence, attempted first-degree murder, and first-degree murder.

According to the statement released on Sunday, the Will County Sheriff's Office got an emergency call on Saturday morning from the lady who said she was being attacked by her landlord in Plainfield, close to Chicago.

She "ran into the bathroom and continued to fend off her attacker," the lady said.

The mother and the kid had "multiple stab wounds to their chest, torso, and upper extremities" when the police arrived on the scene.

The kid, who was subsequently discovered to have been stabbed 26 times, passed away at the hospital, but his critically injured mother is expected to survive the incident.

"The knife used in this attack is a 12-inch (31cm) serrated military-style knife that has a seven-inch blade," the sheriff stated.

Police saw Czuba "sitting upright outside on the ground near the driveway of the residence" when they arrived, and he was brought to the hospital for treatment before being questioned by detectives.

"Detectives were able to determine that both victims in this brutal attack were targeted by the suspect due to them being Muslims and the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict involving Hamas and the Israelis," the Sheriff's Office stated.

While the police did not publicly release the names of the victims, the Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago), America's rights group, identified the boy Wadea al-Fayoume, and his mother Hanaan Shahinat at a news briefing later on Sunday.
