Bushra Bibi's sister, Maryam Riaz Wattoo, has expressed concern over the events she has faced while serving her sentence at her Bani Gala mansion, which has been declared a sub-jail.
She also criticised lawyers who were aligned with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In an interview with private television channels, Samaa TV and Aik News, Bushra Bibi's sister Maryam spoke about the former's claim that an attempt was made to poison her whilst in custody.
Maryam was convinced that Bushra Bibi had been poisoned multiple times through her food. She said that it had been two months since Bushra Bibi had first complained of being poisoned, but they had not received permission to conduct tests to ascertain what the poison was. She claimed that despite specific requests, she was not granted access to doctors for 10-15 days.
Maryam further said that when she was finally allowed to meet with her sister, 10-12 police officers were present, suggesting that she could not freely hold a meeting with her sister.
She also had a message for those party members and leaders who, she claimed, were not as staunchly loyal to party supremo Imran Khan, noting that those who have compromised on a minus-Imran Khan formula will not retain their party positions for long.
"Eventually, Imran Khan will come out of jail," she said, adding that party workers were keenly watching every move of the party's leadership.
She also slammed PTI's lawyers, who were not appearing in the Nikkah case and were content to secure hearing dates but were not arguing the case. She named senior party members and lawyers, including Hamid Khan, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, and Ali Zafar, noting that voters who elected them should hold them accountable.
When asked whether she knew about splits emerging within the party, Maryam said she had no information.
Commenting on a letter sent by six judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to the Supreme Court to complain about the alleged intimidation and interference by security agencies, Maryam argued that no concrete action has been taken after the incident.
She added that PTI members who were elected into the National Assembly refer to them as the opposition even though they had won the most seats.
Maryam clarified she was not an office bearer of the PTI and was speaking only as an ordinary party member. She further said that Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, was respectable in her eyes.
