Three time former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan in the third week of September, a senior leader of his party stated on Thursday.

In a television programme, PML-N Leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui confirmed that Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan in the third week of September, Geo News reported.

He added that Nawaz will lead his party's election campaign after he returns.

Siddiqui further said that Nawaz Sharif was not in favour of delaying polls and should be held this year.

Earlier, family sources close to Nawaz had suggested that after spending nearly four years in the UK, Nawaz will return to Pakistan in the middle of September.

"Nawaz Sharif's decision to return to Pakistan after ending nearly four years of exile is final, and everything is in order," the person who has been involved in the negotiations and preparations stated.

Reservations over bills

During the programme, he expressed his reservations over how dozens of bills were forced through parliament in the last days of the government.

Siddiqui said that if bills come in a rush, their contents cannot be deliberated upon properly.

However, he stated that all the bills which were tabled were 'necessary'. He further stated that these bills were not sponsored by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) but by the coalition government Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

He added that his tabled bill has been 'missing' for 14 months. I wrote to the Senate speaker but have yet to receive a response, he said.

On accountability, Siddiqui said that the parliament cannot hold those who abuse it to account, so how will it hold others to account.
