In the six page legal notice, Khan’s lawyers accuse Geo News for knowingly presenting false information. Their complaint revolves around Geo News Networks host Shahzeb Khanzada claiming on air that former prime minister Imran Khan sold gifts given to the state by Saudi Crown Prince (and now Saudi prime minister) Muhammad bin Salman. They also accuse Geo News of letting businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor on Shahzeb Khanzada’s show without verifying the authenticity of his words, and by airing the allegedly false accusations he had made against Khan when Zahoor stated that he had bought the state gifts from Khan via an intermediary(s) in Dubai.
Khan’s lawyers demand that Geo News a formal and public apology to Imran Khan, and pay a substantial (as yet unspecified) amount for damages and legal fees by 30th December 2022, failing which Khan's lawyers will initiate legal proceedings against all mentioned parties. Geo News have yet to respond to Khan’s demand notice.
