An investigation was launched and according to the initial probe initiated into incident by the police, there were claims that Memoona was completely different in nature as compared to her other classmates.
Yet the police remain clueless with regards to the cause that compelled the 12 year old to commit suicide. Meanwhile, the suicide note apparently written by the deceased girl has triggered a debate on social media.
ASP Alina Rajpar during her visit to the school met with the class fellows and teachers of the minor girl in order to find if the girl was going through any mental illness. It turned out she was a clever and obedient student and everyone said she was "mentally stable".
Her behaviour at the school was normal like other students except for her habit of not making friends. A member of the police investigation team quoted Memoona’s class teacher who had said that girl had no friend in the class and she was different in nature.
The teachers also said that she had never complained about her parents' behaviour with her to them when asked about a letter that had been reportedly recovered from her school-bag.
In the alleged letter supposedly written by the deceased had mentioned about her father’s constant scolding at her over petty issues and the indifferent attitude meted out to her at home. She had also discussed the disparity between her and her sister.
The letter has sparked a debate apropos to detecting symptoms of distress and depression among children at an early age.
Noted politician Ayaz Latif Palijo in a tweet stressed upon a thorough investigation into the matter after the emergence of suicide letter. “A girl who did not know the meaning of Suicide committed it” wrote renowned journalist Shoukat Soomro on his twitter account.
However, Meemoona’s father has termed the letter as "fake.”
The police has said that it will first determine the genuineness of the letter before reaching any conclusion.
