Two terrorists were killed while a third 'blew himself up' as police and other security agencies concluded an operation at the Karachi police chief's office, on Friday.

The gunmen barged into the police office located at Shahrah-e-Faisal and opened indiscriminate fire at those present there.

Speaking to Geo News, Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab said that all three terrorists who entered the building "have been neutralised".

Two personnel of police, one of Rangers, and a civilian were martyred, and 11 others were injured in the attack, he added.

Soon after the attack, the personnel belonging to police, Pakistan Army, and Sindh Rangers cordoned off the building and closed both tracks of the main artery for traffic.

TTP claims responsibility

The banned terrorist organisation Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

PM condemns attack

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the terror attack on the police. In a statement, the premier said that such attacks won't shake the government's resolve to eliminate terrorism.

He praised the police and other security forces for their prompt and effective response to the attack.

PM Shehbaz has also sought a report of the attack from CM Murad, and directed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to ensure all possible assistance to the provincial government.

President Arif Alvi also denounced the attack and wished speedy recovery for those who received injuries.

“The nation stands with the security forces against terrorists,” he said. “Efforts will continue to eradicate the menace of terrorism.”

Late last month, at least 95 people embraced martyrdom, while more than 200 people were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a mosque situated near Peshawar’s Police Lines area.

According to reports, the suicide attacker was present in the front row of the mosque during Zuhr prayers causing the casualties.

The terrorists have been targeting the security forces and the civilians in a fresh wave of terrorism in the country, as the county continues to grapple with the worst financial crisis.
