In an apparent reference to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar has said that whoever wants to take credit for Pakistan’s completion of Financial Action Task Force (FATF)’s action plans can do so.

Earlier, the FATF acknowledged that Pakistan has met all 34 items on two separate action plans and the watchdog will now schedule an on-site visit to verify the implementation and sustainability of the country's money laundering and counter-terrorism financing measures before removing it from the grey list.

After the FATF’s announcement, Hina, in an interview with Independent Urdu, said that the watchdog has unanimously “cleared” Pakistan and acknowledged that the country’s performance in connection with its action plans is up to the mark.

“Whoever wants to take credit for the development can do so. But the credit only goes to the country’s relevant ministries and institutions,” she added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders claimed credit for the development.

Former human rights minister Shireen Mazari termed the development another success of the PTI-led government.

Former finance minister Shaukat Tarin said the "removal" from the grey list is another feather in the cap of former energy minister Hammad Azhar.
