A civil judge has granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a two-day remand of three suspects in the Creek Marina case.

The suspects were presented before Civil Judge South Sajjad Ali Jamali on Saturday, September 16, and sought custody of the suspects for 14-days as they conducted investigations.

However, the court only granted two-days of remand and directed the FIA to produce the suspects before the court again on Tuesday, September 19.

While presenting the suspects, Investigation Officer Nasrullah Khan told the court that the suspects were accused of opening bank accounts without completing legal and other codal formalities.

The officer added that though the suspects opened an account which was only supposed to receive funds, millions of rupees were withdrawn from these accounts as well.

The counsel for the defendants argued that the FIR had been registered malafidely and that the FIA has no jurisdiction to register or investigate such a case.

The lawyer further claimed that the sections in the case were misapplied and that the FIA allegedly played into private individuals' hands.

The judge, however, noted the discrepancies in the arguments of the defence counsels and approved two-day remand.
