The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) issued 181 fake CNICs to individuals not citizens of Pakistan prominently including Afghan refugees over the last three years.
Documents available with Naya Daur -- The Friday Times also revealed another 8,152 national status cases are being verified. Afghans had obtained fake CNICs by presenting false documents and conniving with NADRA employees, the documents read. Inquiries against the officials have been initiated.
From July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 a total of 279 inquiries have been initiated as per E&D rules 2020 and 43 employees have been terminated/ dismissed/ removed from services, the documents revealed. "Data on 1.5 million Afghan refugees was available with Pakistan and about 800,000 were living in the country illegally."
The fraudulent CNICs have been cancelled. CNICs of such non-nationals have been digitally impounded/ cancelled as and when reported too.
