A well-placed source told Friday Times-Naya Daur on the condition of anonymity that the ECP was concerned over the open defiance of its orders by federal and provincial authorities and is therefore thinking of postponing the second phase of the elections.
Earlier on Wednesday, the ECP issued show cause notices to Prime Minister Imran Khan, KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and others for violating its code of conduct by holding a rally in Swat. Prior to the latest notice, the ECP wrote to the PM three times in a week, asking him not to defy the code of conduct.
Despite ECP’s warning, Khan is attending a jasla in Parachinar, Kurram today (Friday). His address is said to begin at 3pm.
