Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporter and designer Khadija Shah was granted post-arrest bail by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday in two separate cases related to the blazing Askari Tower and the attack on Jinnah House on May 9.
The assaults happened in the aftermath of the arrest of former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan.
Judge Aalia granted bail to the designer in the Askari Tower case and subsequently in the Jinnah House Attack case as the hearings got underway today. Prior to this, the bench had heard arguments in both cases and reserved judgment.
In earlier sessions, the petitioner's attorney had said that the cases' investigations were over and that no significant evidence had been presented to prove the accused person's guilt.
In the two FIRs stated above, he requested the court give Khadija a post-arrest bail.
On the other hand, the special prosecutor said that the accused was responsible for assaulting the Jinnah House, causing turmoil and disorder, and inciting a state of lawlessness.
He maintained that anti-state chants were also uttered by the accused. Justice Aalia said that it was the habit of our country to stage protests in response to a request from a leader. The court said, "Stop monitoring things that put you people in trouble tomorrow so minutely."
When the reserved judgment was declared in court, Khadija's mother, husband, and sister were all there. The husband of the designer was observed giving thanks to God for granting his wife's requests.
In the meantime, six other defendants in the May 9 riot, anarchy, and law and order proceedings were also granted post-arrest release by the same division bench.
The well-known fashion designer and PTI supporter was detained on May 23 in connection with the attack on Jinnah House in Lahore that happened after Imran Khan was arrested on May 9.
