The former prime minister also hinted at the 'establishment' having a role in the affair. In a couple of tweets, the former prime minister said that all the pictures and videos [being circulated on media] show clearly that Gill was tortured mentally and physically.
“He [Gill] was humiliated to break him down. I now have full detailed info. [The] ICT police say they did not inflict any torture. So my question is who tortured Gill. There is a general perception in the public at large and in our minds too as to who could have carried out the gruesome torture,” he said.
“Remember the public will react. We will leave no stone unturned to find out those responsible and bring them to justice,” he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, Imran alleged that Gill was coerced into implicating him in connection with the recent anti-military tirade. He went on to allege that Gill was also asked to “reveal” how many times Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed had called on the PTI chief.
Gill was arrested on August 9 for inciting violence against state institutions. Following the arrest, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that Gill was picked up by unidentified personnel in cars with missing number plates.
