Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif reportedly met with estranged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Jehangir Khan Tareen to discuss ouster of the PTI government.

Insider sources told the News that the two leaders met in 'secret' to discuss Prime Minister Imran Khan's government and chart a path forward, following the opposition's announcement last week that it planned to hold a no-confidence motion against the PM.  Neither camp has publicly acknowledged the meeting.

When contacted, Jahangir Tareen reportedly said that the economic condition of the county was hurting everyone, adding that his group of MNAs and MPAs, numbering 'more than 30', could not remain indifferent to the growing hardships of their constituencies. He reportedly said that his MPs had given him the authority to make any political decision he deemed fit.

PML-N MPA Hamza Shehbaz told reporters at Dawn earlier this week that his party was “in contact with everyone (including the [Jahangir Khan Tareen] JKT group) as our sole target is removing Imran Khan.”

A meeting of 20 PTI MPAs and six MNAs, supporters of the JKT group, reportedly also met at the home of former advisor to the chief minister Awn Chaudry in Lahore earlier this week to discuss the opposition' attempts to oust the incumbent government.

On Thursday, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz announced that the opposition were planning a no-trust motion against the prime minister.
