Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former premier Imran Khan has said that the judiciary is the country's last hope, adding that the incumbent government should uphold the law without putting pressure on the judiciary.

During a meeting with journalists, Khan said the purpose of tapping phone calls is to intimidate the judiciary and undermine the rule of law in the country.

During the meeting, he talked about PTI’s political strategy, the rise in terrorism incidents, the economic crisis, and the aims of his party’s ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’.

While talking about phone-tapping incidences, the PTI chief said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had a history of targeting the judiciary, adding that the constant propaganda against the judiciary, especially the judges, was humiliating.

Khan said that the chief election commissioner (CEC) was the Pakistan Democratic Movement's (PDM) primary backer in constitutional violations. He also said that the incumbent government is supporting political dictatorship and acts of retribution.

Khan asserted that, with the nation's support, the PTI would put an end to the lawlessness and economic catastrophe. He said that he initiated ‘jail bharo tehreek’ for true independence.

Khan alleged that the former army chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa had admitted involvement in regime change, adding that General (retired) Bajwa had also admitted directing the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The PTI chief also alleged that the former army chief had also admitted to audio recordings. Military should initiate an inquiry against General (retired) Bajwa, he demanded.

Khan lauded President Dr Arif Alvi for not signing the Finance Bill ordinance, adding that the bill would cause further inflation.

While blaming the incumbent government for the economic crisis, he said that economic indicators were positive during the PTI government's tenure.

Regarding the court cases, Khan said that he was being summoned by the courts but the doctors had advised him to rest.

He said that he dissolved assemblies in two provinces to end the crisis through fresh polls, but the current rulers were delaying the elections.
