The woman was convicted of sharing blasphemous material on social media, according to reports. The death sentence was announced under Section 295-C with FIA Special Court judge Adnan Mushtaq issuing the verdict. The court also imposed a Rs150,000 fine on the woman.
The FIR filed against the convict included provisions of the Cyber Crime Act and Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code. The case was filed in the cyber crime wing of FIA Rawalpindi on the complaint of a man named Hasnaat Farooq in 2020. The case included several provisions of blasphemy and cybercrime.
