Former human rights minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shireen Mazari claims to have found a voice recorder planted in her bedroom in a 'bugging attempt' that she says is a violation of Article 14.1 of the Constitution.

The PTI leader held a press conference today (Tuesday) announcing the discovery, and recounted the story of how the device was discovered in her bedroom. Senator Shibli Faraz was also present by her side.

She said her domestic worker accidentally knocked over a table and discovered the device taped under it. Upon discovery, the worker called Mazari, who was in Bani Gala at the time.

Mazari initially thought it might be a USB device, and asked her secretary to identify the contents, however it was revealed that it was actually a listening and recording device, and not a USB.

She claimed that it was the same device as the one found in PTI Chairperson Imran Khan's house a few weeks earlier, and held up a paper with the make and model of the device, adding that it was an American model.

Mazari was outraged over the alleged invasion of her privacy, and accused the incumbent government of stooping to such levels that did not even award citizens privacy in their own bedrooms.

Claiming that this was a violation of Article 14.1 of the Constitution, she said she would be filing a constitutional petition in the Islamabad High Court, as her right to privacy had been infringed on.
