A newlywed couple was shot dead on Wednesday inside a mosque in Jhelum, where they had taken sanctuary out of fear for their lives.
It was just a few days ago when Rahman Rasool and Saffa got married.
After their freewill marriage, the girl's family invited the young couple to their house for reconciliation, but the couple, feeling threatened, took cover in the mosque's courtyard adjacent to the motorway.
Instead of showing even the slightest regard for the mosque, the girl's family members shot and killed both of them.
The killings within the mosque were reported to the authorities by a shepherd from the area.
The police have launched an investigation after taking bodies into their custody.
